The Morning After the Night Before

Sexy sleep overs can be a nightmare when it comes to waking up looking beautiful; but don’t even think about it ladies.. sleeping in full make up is never an option.

It will wreak havoc on both your skin and his sheets!

Things you can do BEFORE the night that should last:

• Lash Extensions

• A light application of fake tan on your face

• A lip stain - max factor lipfinity is my favourite

• Tinted moisturizer

Handbag necessities for the morning AFTER:

• Tinted moisturizer

• The lip stain you used the night before

• Hair band & bobby pins (although don't underestimate the appeal of sex hair)

• Highlighter/illuminator – Inglot does a great two-in-one

• Make up remover wipes

Stale make up is so not the way to go so keep these tips in mind the next time you stay the night. If you happen to find yourself in this situation unexpectedly ;-) then remove the smoky eyes (you’ll look like a raccoon in the morning) and your lash extensions will do the rest. A perfect set of eyelash extensions will accentuate your eyes and make you look infinitely prettier but he’ll think you’re au naturel (men have no idea).

How to Get What you Want…

 This title may be a bit misleading, as I’m actually only going to give you the secret to achieving your wants and desires in terms of lashes... 
Which makes sense really considering I'm a lash extensionist - and here at Sydney lashes my main priority is to have you looking amazing!

Communication is key!

This doesn’t mean only verbal communication as we all have different interpretations. I was constantly surprised by what some people consider ‘natural’ when I was working in the make up industry. That’s ok though, we all have our own taste and sense of style.
However in order to maximize your happiness I really, really would like to know what it is you’re after. So why not bring in a photo of someone’s lashes that you like? That way I can ascertain the overall effect you want.

Don’t be tardy for the party.. (Real Housewives fans will know exactly what I’m referring to)!

We all know what its like to have a zillion things to do and only a measly 24 hours to get them done in! Honestly, it’s the story of my life but unfortunately we do have to work within those limitations and due to my ever increasing popularity.. ahem it may or may not.. have to do with the facebook 50% offer.. I have to use a bookings system. That means that a certain amount of time is allocated to you and only you in the pursuit of beautiful lashes. Unfortunately this pursuit is made more difficult by late arrivals and the M word. Mascara. It is the devil!! Removing mascara from your lashes has to be done prior to doing extensions and it will surprise you.. not me.. how long it can take! The stuff doesn’t come off! To make a long story short it is wise to allow me the most amount of time to apply lashes to you so try to be early and mascara free before your appointment.

It’s not finished until its Perfect

I am a perfectionist! It kills me and I totally wish I wasn’t - but I am and in terms of you and your lashes that’s a good thing. It means that I want genuine feedback from you and I wont stop until your lash set looks perfect. So if you are unhappy with anything to do with lashes once I'm finished I would like to know so that I can fix it.
This shouldn’t be the case as it is why I have brought in the ‘First Time Set’ package which is based on the initial consultation. During this time I will know exactly what you want but if there is anything bothering you at the end like a pesky lash that is sitting funny and my eagle eyes haven’t seen it please let me know. It may have something to do with your own natural lashes and is therefore unavoidable or it may be something that I can fix so please speak up.. don’t forever hold your peace!

If at first you don’t succeed…

At infill time or the next time you have your lashes done, take note of what you liked or didn’t like about the previous set. Consider things like the length of the lashes and how well they lasted. This is an opportunity for you to tweak it so that you get exactly what you want and they last the distance. This may take a few tries and your tastes may change so it’s important to develop a relationship with your extensionist so that you can discuss your lash options. Personally speaking in terms of my own lashes I have just gone up a length in lashes but down in thickness which has given me a completely different effect! It’s something I wanted to try for summer and I’m happy I experimented because I love them!

Trash Talk

Enjoying all that the warmer months have to offer doesn’t mean that you have to trash your lashes!

These are just a few tips to avoid that happening to all you sun worshippers out there… myself included ;-)

1.)  Slip, Slop, Slap but not the Lash(es)

Use an oil-free sunscreen and particularly avoid the spray kind for use on your face.  This doesn’t mean skipping the sunscreen ladies! Just use it wisely (oil -free) and sparingly around your prized assets…your eyes!

2. Glam Factor 50+

The skin around the eye area is particularly delicate so avoiding exposure to the sun is wise in terms of aging as well as lashes.

My advice is to up the glam factor by using big sunglasses to protect your eye area from the elements, which includes the pesky wind that could have your lashes blowing in all directions. You’ll be stylish and sun savvy all in one!

3. Water Baby

Water isn’t fantastic for lashes, let’s be honest.
However, there are things that you can do to limit the damage it may cause.

So whether you’ve been swimming in a chlorinated pool or in the sea - I suggest rinsing your lashes off afterwards with fresh water (tap water) to remove the chlorine or salt ASAP. An even better, although slightly daggy, solution is to use goggles! It’s just a suggestion…

Lashes need to fit into your lifestyle, not the other way around but following these easy tips will hugely effect how long they last!

Aftercare

Luscious lashes need to be cared for to keep them in a flutter worthy state. The Rules for Happily ever…Aftercare

• Persian Princess

This means that for 24 hours after your appointment water is your worst enemy… make like a cat and keep them well away from any moisture. Sweat falls under that category and so does make up so be patient and allow the glue time to bond securely. 

• Man-handling

Going forwards, the best thing you can do is to leave them alone! They don't need constant touching; despite whatever urge you might have to do so. The reason I strongly advise against this is that you transfer oil from your fingers onto the lashes which will disintegrate the bond over time. Not to mention that your lashes can become irritated from constant man-handling.

• Oil Slick

When it comes to selecting products to use in conjunction with your lashes remember the golden rule: Oil is not your friend. This applies to cleansers, make up and especially mascara - if you choose to use it. For my clients I stock oil free mascara that is safe to use and I am always on the look out for products that extend the life span of your lashes.

• Pillow talk

Your pillow may look soft and inviting but it is a killer when it comes to your lashes. Restless sleepers tend to lose their lashes much quicker and most people favour a side. I love using my psychic “I know which side you sleep on” trick on my clients as I am always right! This is a hard one to get around but the best solution is to sleep on your back. Which, by the way, is better for wrinkles too!

• Maintenance

Like anything beauty related, your lashes will require maintenance to keep them looking good. Due to the natural lash cycle you will naturally shed your lashes every few weeks so we at Sydney Lashes recommend in-fills every two to four weeks to maintain a perfect set.

Lashes are an investment in terms of your time and your wallet so why not do whatever you can to prolong lifespan of them?

Summer is in the air....

Lash Ladies, it’s that time again.. Summer is in the air.

Undisputedly there is no better place to be than Sydney in the sun. 
Along with a great spray tan, lashes are must haves for the season as mascara and the beach are a definite no no.
